It is so much fun decorating the baby’s room and getting everything just right for the new baby. There are so many decisions to make so that the room is just right. Darling designs in linens; fabulous paint colors; it can take months to get everything just the way you want it. One thing to keep in mind however is the darling decorative items that can actually be a danger to your baby. One of those items in particular is the Baby Crib Bumpers.
For those of you that don’t know, the bumpers are the piece of stuffed fabric that runs around the interior of the crib to keep little fingers and toes out from between the slats of the crib. They are so sweet and make the crib look so nice. They are great for use when your child is an infant and she or he mainly stays in one spot in the crib when sleeping, especially if you use a wedge to keep them on their side.
Once your baby starts to move more and can roll over, it is time to remove that bumper from their bed and along with heavy blankets and stuffed animals that can suffocate. The baby can roll over into the bumper and not be able to roll back which could cause suffocation. The same concern is there for the heavy blankets and large stuffed toys. Your baby can grab one and inadvertently get their mouth and airways constricted and this can cause an accident.
For the best bet and to keep your baby the safest, keep these items out of your baby’s bed. While they are cute and sweet looking decorations, they can also be very dangerous for your baby too.
